Equinox Training Run #6

lead-in photo - run number 6We’re meeting for Steve’s Equinox Training Run #6 on the top of Ester Dome near the chute on Thursday, August 18th at 6pm for a 9+ mile loop.

For those of you who missed last week’s run due to rain, guess what?  Not what droplet fell upon us and we had clear, beautiful, dry weather up top, so you really missed out!  But fortunately, you get another chance at running the chute this week. Actually, you’ll have three more opportunities to run the chute in the remaining training runs, but more on that in the weeks to come!

This Thursday’s run features of course, the chute. Also, some trails, some downhill running, some pavement, and some uphill running.  All in all, it features a bit of everything, which makes the Equinox so special!  It’s a beautiful thing!

Here’s the course description for this training run:

Start at mile 17.1 at the top of Ester Dome near the chute.

Down you go on the 1/3 mile chute.

Running through the beautiful trail here, totaling 2 ¼ mile until you turn right onto Henderson Road.

Run about ¾ of a mile on Henderson and then turn left onto St. Patrick’s.

St. Patrick’s is a dirt road approximately 3 mile long.  It’s very curvy and gets very muddy and slick.  Super fun running, but can be a little messy.  Don’t hog the road!  It’s easy to forget that there are actually vehicles that drive on this road and they come zipping around the corners.  Stay to your extreme left and watch out for traffic!

At the end of St. Pat’s, turn left onto Ester Dome Road and up you go for 3 ¼ miles until you reach the place in whence you started.

Powerade cocktails and sugar-laden treats will await you at the end!
