Equinox Weather

Runners, Joggers, Hikers, and Walkers:

There’s a reason why some call this one of the toughest marathons in the world...PLEASE READ –>

Saturday looks like there will be chilly rain. We want everyone to be safe, so we are advising people to have rain gear. Bring hats, headbands and gloves – be prepared.

There is a chance of snow on top of Ester Dome in the morning, but the possibility of snow at the top increases during the day Saturday as a cold front moves through the valley.

We will have a warm-up shack at the top of Ester Dome if anyone needs it for an emergency. There is no bag or clothing drop, however.  You may leave a bag with your relay team member.

If you have questions, please ask our race officials.

WE CAN DO THIS!

Equinox Parking

UAF will be closing the Nenana Parking Lot, the large parking lot across the street from the Patty Center/SRC, due to Starvation Gulch that evening.

Parking at the start will be minimal. Weekend parking is free on the UAF campus, and the Taku Lot on Farmer’s Loop will be available. Other options are to park at West Valley/Hutch, carpool and get dropped off.

Whatever you do, get there early – Parking will be tight! Remember, the SRC will be open and warm for early risers.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Relay Leg #3

Runners, Joggers, Hikers, Walkers:

Here is the Van Service for Relay Runner Leg # 3.

Vans are provided by “Airlink Shuttle and Tours.”

2-3 vans are available

Leg #3 will board a bus from campus and be brought to the second stop at the intersection of Ester Dome Road and Henderson Road.

Leg # 3 runners will board a 15 passenger van from this intersection to the Top of Ester Dome to the relay exchange zone.  Please bring clothes to keep warm while waiting.  Keep in mind you are responsible for transportation of your clothing.

Vans will only be doing the Henderson/Top of Dome Loop until 3pm.

Leg #2 runners (once finished) can take a van back to the intersection and then take a bus back to UAF campus.

All Leg #2 and Leg #3 runners are encouraged to use the buses and vans.  NO CARS (except for residents) WILL BE ALLOWED PAST HENDERSON RD.  From the upper end of Henderson Road it is more than 1.5 miles to relay exchange 2 – at least a 25-30 minute walk.  PLAN AHEAD!

Spectators and race crews may board a shuttle bus/van, BUT ONLY AFTER all relay runners needing a ride from that pickup point have been seated on the bus/van.

If you have questions, please contact Stacy via email.  See you at bib pick-up!
