Steve’s Equinox Training (SET) Runs are a series of runs on Wednesday evenings starting in early July. Over the course of eight weeks, you’ll explore every inch of the Equinox Marathon course in various ways, with the support of both marathon veterans and other newbies. You’ll find the complete schedule on Running Club North’s calendar page. There is no cost and no need to pre-register. Just show up! If you show up every week, you’ll be well familiar with the course so that you know exactly what the challenges will be come race day! Of course you can do these runs on your own at any time. Remember, the more you train on the course, the less daunting it will be on the day.

These training runs were started by the long-time Equinox race director Steve Bainbridge and the founder of the Fahrenheit Be Damned/Darned sister series Scott McCrea way back in 1997. That’s right, we’re talking decades! They’ve helped countless newbie marathoners and seasoned runners alike prepare for the Equinox Marathon and attain their goal, whatever it may be. We’re here to help you reach yours!

Install as App

You can install this as an app on your device! Instead of bookmarking the web page, you can just click the app button that will be installed and it will open in it's own window/screen. You currently must have an internet connection to do anything with the app, but we're working on an offline mode where you can at least view the maps. How you install the app depends on what platform you are on (windows, mac, ios, android) and what browser you are using. Follow the outline below and let us know if you have a case we haven't covered.

  1. Chromium-based browser: If you are using a chromium browser such as google chrome, microsoft edge, opera, brave, you should see an Install App button below. Click that and you will get a prompt from the browser to install this page as an app. Click Install and you will see a new icon on your desktop or your home screen.

  2. iOS: Unfortunately, iOS does not support this so you'll need to add the app manually no matter what browser you use. It's actually pretty simple. Click on the share icon in the url field. It looks like a box with an arrow pointing up. Click on the View More button and scroll down to Add to Home Screen. You can change the title that appears on the home screen button or accept the default EQX SETs. Click Add. The button has been added to your home screen.

  3. Android: If you don't see the Install App button above, you'll need to install it manually. Open Google Chrome on your Android device. Go to the website or PWA you want to install. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the browser. Tap either Install app or Add to Home screen from the dropdown menu. Confirm by tapping Install or Add on the prompt.

  4. Other: Some browsers, such as Firefox, don't support installing apps without adding an extension first. If you don't want to do that, you can use a different browser. If all else fails, do a search for how to install Progressive Web Apps (PWA) with your browser. Something like "how to install pwa in [browser]" should get you there.

That should do it. Once you've installed it as an app, you don't have to do anything more. Just use the button on your device and that's it.
